Adverb Investigation #1: ə’bæft

I do it abaft.

I do it behind a shipstern.

I do it at the far side of the rearmost part of a large boat for chransporting people or goods by sea.

I do it at the more distant upright surface of a vessel for chraveling over water propelled by oars, sails, or an engine, of considerable size, for carrying human beings or merchandise or possessions from one place to another on the expanse of saltwater that covers most of the earth’s surface and surrounds its landmasses.
